SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Vice President Finance & Administration (VPFA) and serves as the human resources leader fully responsible for key functional aspects of HR. As a strategic business partner for the University, this position, both directly as well as indirectly, guides and manages members of the HR department and leadership across the University. This position partners with the University's executive leadership along with staff and faculty at all levels to provide strategic and tactical HR support. This position is also responsible for key functional aspects of HR which includes, but is not limited to benefits, system implementations, 403(b) plan administration and compliance, employment agreements, unemployment, workers compensation, FMLA, ADA, and disability leave management, HR analytics, vendor relations, budget oversight, recruitment and retention, employee relations, policy administration, compensation and job analysis, training, onboarding and offboarding, serves as Co-Chair for DEI committee, serves as principal administrator of Investment Committee.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain HR processes and reporting that enable HR to lead and partner with university leadership to develop a talent management program which enables the University to attract and retain staff and faculty that are needed to effectively manage existing functions as well as build and promote new programs and processes that enable the University to thrive going forward.
- Partners with University administrative and faculty leaders to provide for all HR-related needs including but not limited to performance management, employee relations, talent management, onboarding, off boarding, training, organizational development, employee benefits, leaves of absences, salary administration and other HR initiatives.
- Assesses the skills and capabilities across the University along with the needs and current staffing of existing departments to develop hiring, retention, and succession planning strategies.
- Oversees all leaves of absence and related compliance including but not limited to ADA, FMLA, STD, LTD.
- Responsible for all aspects of recruitment for the University including but not limited to applicant tracking system, interviews, offers, background checks and related compliance.
- Develops the strategy to ensure the administration of benefits, employment agreements, system implementations, and HR analytics across the University.
- Oversees HR departmental budget, manages recruitment budget for the University, oversees benefits invoice payment and proper reconciliation for the University.
- Manages the HR generalist and HR coordinator ensuring proper completion of daily work and projects and compliance with all applicable laws and best practices.
- Directs all employee relations issues, coordinating with Directors and Vice Presidents on necessary actions, investigating all concerns and ensuring legal compliance.
- Responsible for the strategic direction and departmental goals of the department.
- Conducts salary and job description analysis as needed for all positions to ensure compliance with applicable laws. Reviews compensation and completes salary surveys and research.
- Serves as fiduciary and principal administrator for 403(b) plan and Investment Committee, responsible for completion of annual 5500 and regulatory compliance.
- Recommends and proposes new HR approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual and purposeful improvements in efficiency and data-driven decisions.
- Reviews, tracks, and analyzes all HR-related data. Identifies opportunities to utilize and integrate systems to provide information quickly and accurately. Uses data to track metrics and develop plans that improve employee retention, diversity and other employee processes and strategic priorities.
- Develops and implements communications and plans with the VPFA and operational leadership for those data-related analytics, which includes but is not limited to minimum wage changes, merit increases, and faculty contracts.
- Conducts onboarding and training for Supervisors, hiring managers and above in the areas of HR.
- Oversees tuition remission, tuition exchange and related policies and compliance.
- Partners with the University leadership to prevent employment-related legal claims and to respond to them when they occur by conducting the appropriate internal investigation, preparing reports to management, responding to federal and state agencies (e.g., EEOC, HRC, DOL, etc.) and representing the University's position and interests.
- Leads by example, demonstrating and promoting Immaculata's mission, ethics, cultural values, and goals across the University community.
- Performs all job duties with the utmost professionalism, confidentiality, a focus on building purposeful efficiencies, and a can-do attitude.
- Partners effectively with back-office processes and staff including the Finance, IT, Facilities, Academic Affairs, and others requiring HR process integration.
- Serves as co-chair on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee
- Other projects as defined.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- 10 or more years of HR generalist experience to include a heavy emphasis on performance management, management of employees, employee relations, employment laws, and data analytics.
- 5 or more years of directly managing HR Professionals.
- Prior experience as plan administrator in all areas of employee benefits, plan review and analysis, compliance, and best practice
- Experience in compensation, salary administration, and management training.
- Experience in recruitment and hiring including interviewing, background checks, onboarding compliance and best practices.
- Prior experience in 403b plan administration, compliance, and Investment Committee experience.
- Understanding of laws, plan design and compliance for all types of leaves of absence.
- Experience in managing employee relations, issues management, investigation skills and recommending corrective actions in line with legal requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship, and organizational skills required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities, ability to do complex benefits, budget and compensation analysis and numerous ad hoc reports.
- Excellent independent thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities with urgency and efficacy.
- Must have a can-do attitude and exemplify optimism in leading as a Director of the University and as an HR professional.
- Approaches each situation with proactive solutions and builds efficient practices.
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred in a related field (including Human Resources, Psychology, etc.)
- PHR or SPHR or SHRM-CP required.
