Essential Job Duties

The NC State Department of Athletics is currently accepting applications for an 11-month internship (Aug – June) in Athletics Communications. The interns will report to the Director of Athletic Communications and will assist the Athletics Communications office with coverage of the university’s 22-sport varsity athletics program.

The anticipated start date is August 2024 with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2024. Dates are somewhat flexible. The intern will be paid a hourly rate of $12.50 with a maximum of 40 hours per week.

The successful candidates will perform the following duties:
-Serve as the primary athletic communications contact for the Cross Country/Track & Field programs and for gymnastics, as well as assist with other sports as assigned.
-Develop content plans and social media strategies for athletics social media outlets and GoPack.com.

-Work closely with coaches and student-athletes of assigned sports to positively promote activities both inside and outside the field of competition.


-Utilize communications strategies to reach national, regional and local media and supporters to generate publicity consistent with the mission of NC State Athletics.


-Foster and maintain positive relations with media representatives from the electronic and print media.


-Research, write and release sports publications and other materials as directed to the appropriate media, conference and national offices, websites, etc.


-Serve as host to members of the media at games and events.


-Coordinate media operations at all home events for assigned sports.


-Compile statistics and maintain records.


-Report statistics and information to Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA offices.


-Maintain knowledge of the rules and policies of the NCAA, ACC and University as it relates to this position to ensure compliance
