Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.

Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for a Coordinator of Dual Enrollment. The Coordinator of Dual Enrollment administers and manages dual enrollment programs with partnership school systems and various high schools and technical centers. Develops dual enrollment contracts for each school system in partnership area. In consultation with college faculty, School Deans and local high school administrators, plans and identifies the most appropriate dual enrollment courses and coordinates the scheduling and delivery of such courses and related services. Collaborates with Admissions, Records, Institutional Effectiveness, Academic Schools, and the Business Office to ensure processes are completed and necessary information is provided as it relates to dual enrollment courses and students. Creates the annual dual enrollment calendar of courses and generates reports, as well as communicates with dual enrollment instructors.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Guidance, teaching, and/or academic administration experience in a secondary school or a community college.
  • Understanding of the relationship between the community college and secondary schools.
  • Experience giving presentations and managing processes and/or projects involving multiple constituents.
  • A successful track record of building and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of effective problem resolution techniques.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and student information systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a community college academic or student services setting.
  • Knowledge of faculty credentialing methods as they relate to Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) criteria.
  • Experience using PeopleSoft software.
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (e.g., Canvas).
