Job Description
LAKELAND UNIVERSITY, an independent liberal arts institution located in east central Wisconsin, invites applications from a diverse group of qualified candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Accounting, to begin August 2024. Lakeland seeks a candidate committed to serving a diverse student community who could teach a wide range of courses in accounting and finance, including Personal Finance, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Auditing, and Advanced Financial Reporting to undergraduate students with varied experience and ability levels; teach other courses in our business and finance offerings as needed; serve as faculty advisor for accounting program students; supervise experiential learning opportunities for students and serve as liaison between the student and employer.
This is a full-time (9-month), renewable, tenure-track position. A Master's degree in Accounting with CPA certification or a Master's degree in Business Administration with CPA certification is required for the rank of assistant professor and for tenure. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching undergraduate courses in accounting and applied experience as an accountant. This teaching role is focused on introducing the application of accounting experiences to students and advising accounting students rather than research.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Teach undergraduate courses in accounting and finance to students of varying ability levels.
- Assist the academic Deans with evaluating adjunct instructors in accounting.
- Advise students as assigned.
- Advise students in experiential learning assignments.
- Oversee Lakeland's accounting club.
- Teach in both traditional and hybrid learning environments.
- Support the university's general education program.
- Participate in educational assessment activities.
- Hold regular office hours on a weekly basis.
- Respond in a timely manner to calls or emails from students, colleagues, or supervisors.
- Participate in institutional service opportunities as assigned. Use university technology as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Accounting with CPA certification or Master's degree in Business Administration with CPA certification are required for rank of assistant professor
- Experience working as an accountant in a business context
- Successful teaching experience in higher education preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk
- No or very limited physical effort required
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
