We are seeking an exceptional leader to guide our organization at the Galowich Family YMCA, while laying the groundwork for an eventual transition to our new state-of-the-art facility in Shorewood.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Branch Executive Director at the Greater Joliet Area YMCA stewards the Y’s cause, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization within the community. The Branch Executive Director oversees the operation of a YMCA branch, including membership, aquatics, sports, fitness, youth and family, kid zone programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.

  • Directs the financial development activities of the branch, including annual campaigns, capital campaigns, endowment/planned giving, and special event support.

  • Oversees the hiring, training, development and supervision of staff.

  • Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets.

  • Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.

  • Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.

  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs, which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.

  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality programs, facilities, grounds, and equipment.

  • Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.

  • Manages and supports the work of the branch advisory council and its volunteers. Facilitates and attends all branch council monthly meetings.

  • Serves as a member of the Y management/Y operations team. Attends all required meetings and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned, as appropriate within the scope of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.

  • Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.

  • Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.

  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.

  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.

  • CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
