Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
As a critical position in the Recruitment Department, this role engages in outreach activities. Recruiters engage with students in the local high schools, adult learners, and the community at large. Recruiters advise prospective students and their supporters about the academic and career opportunities available through Virginia Western’s degree, certificate, and Workforce credential programs. Recruiters also advise students on available financial assistance and scholarship opportunities available to support enrollment. This includes the Community College Access Program (CCAP), federal and state financial aid, and grant funding. This position serves as a direct support to CCAP candidates and school counselors by communicating the program purpose, requirements and application process. This position will assist the Recruitment Coordinator with scheduling and executing on-campus, off-campus and online events, such as open houses, information sessions, and student orientations. This position will serve high school students, adults, and all other non-traditional learners through relevant recruitment efforts and experiences. Recruiters will also participate in enrollment campaigns to engage special populations including prospective, current, and former students.
This position utilizes various technology platforms such as the online application for admission, the student information system, the online scholarship application platform, online orientation system, and Navigate.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
