JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Materials Science and Engineering department at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking an hourly postdoctoral researcher. This position is related to the development of thermoelectric energy harvesting materials and other ceramic alloys. The successful
candidate will work on federally funded research projects covering synthesis of new alloy compositions, fabrication and testing of ceramic alloys, thermoelectric materials and modules, and integration of thermoelectric generators and coolers.

Responsibilities:

  • Extensive knowledge is required in the assembly of thermoelectric systems and testing under realistic thermal conditions.
  • Candidate should have the proven track-record to provide fundamental analysis of the data obtained through the cyclic thermal tests in terms of electron – phonon – magnon transport, band engineering, energy filtering, etc.
  • Research experience is desired in a wide range of other related material
    systems such as thermomagnetic and shape memory materials for both thermal
    management and power generation.
  • The candidate will have opportunity to be
    involved in proposal development and project report preparation.
