Scope of Job
The Department of Information Systems in the Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking applications for a Lecturer to teach undergraduate/graduate courses and provide institutional/professional service beginning in the Fall of 2024.
We seek dedicated and excellent candidates who are focused on improving student success and preparing exceptional business professionals to continue a tradition of improving the social mobility of our students. Applicants must have substantial teaching experience in Information Systems courses (e.g. INFS, IS, CIS, MIS) or in Quantitative Measurement courses (e.g. QUMT, business statistics). Our courses are offered during the day and evenings in different modalities- face-to-face, hybrid, online synchronous and online asynchronous. The duties for a Lecturer position are teaching and service. The office location of this lecturer position will be in the Edinburg campus.
The department contributes to the BBA in Information Systems major, the MBA program, the MS in Business Analytics, and the Ph.D. program. The College offers Ph.D. programs in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Management, Economics, and Marketing.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have a master’s degree in Statistics, Business Analytics, Decision Science or closely related field from a Carnegie research university/AACSB International accredited institution and a minimum of two years of leadership level experience in the field. Applicants must have at least 18 hours of quantitative methods-related graduate courses.

- Some community involvement such as participation in a professional society and/or serving as a speaker for local or regional events.
- Two years of college teaching experience.
- Substantial professional career experience in Statistics, Business Analytics, or Decision Sciences or closely related business field
Passion to share work experience with our students and contribute to program development as they prepare for careers after graduation.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
