If you are a Transportation Engineer with 7+ years of design experience, we would love to speak with you about having you join us as our new Lead Transportation Engineer based in our growing San Diego, CA office. As our new Lead Transportation Engineer, you will lead & support the growth of our Transportation Infrastructure design projects in Southern California.

You will have the opportunity to plan and conduct work that requires keen judgement and can devise new approaches to solve design problems and oversee assigned projects. Our hope is that we can continue to build our team around you which will eventually have you leading teams in planning, on complex projects for local and national clients.

As our Lead Transportation Engineer, you will be actively involved in the business development process. You will plan, schedule, and conduct/coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work on projects of moderate scope, or in a part of a major project. You will perform work that may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. You may often serve as a contact for clients, contractors, and other professionals. You may also serve as project leader and are expected to coordinate the team's work by providing direction to less-experienced designers and engineers and assisting in staff development.

Responsibilities

Other responsibilities not limited but may include:

    Perform design and contribute to engineering teams in the delivery of Transportation/Roadway design projects.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships; Interact with clients in all aspects of project delivery.
  • Participate in business development activities, including preparation of proposals, capture planning, client meetings, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Lead the development of projects from inception to completion by defining scope, schedule and budget in alignment with client strategic goals.
  • Provide ongoing engineering review and evaluation of designs for compliance with criteria, standards, and specifications on each project.
  • Be responsive and proactive, managing engineering activities to comply with budgets and schedules; identify departures or issues early to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule.
  • Review and monitor design and construction document preparation from concept design through final. completion, including review of change-management documents.
  • Create and maintain, or monitor, comprehensive project documentation.
  • Coordinate all design work with other team disciplines.
  • Participate in training and mentoring staff as appropriate.
  • Attend client/project meetings and present at public hearings.
Qualifications

We are seeking the following qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of transportation/roadway design engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation design software.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in the state of California or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire date.

For candidates based in California position is $140,000 - 165,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
