Job Description

 

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Roles & Responsibilities

Note: The ED is responsible for the supervision and performance of all of the following activities, including maximizing assignments to staff and Board members .

 

FUNDRAISING

  • Development of Annual Fundraising goals and track/report on progress
  • Corporate Mentor Program
  • Annual update of Corporate Mentor invitation flyer
  • Ongoing communications with existing Corporate Mentors
  • Coordination with Board to invite new Corporate Mentors
  • Ensure execution of ICF commitments to Corporate Mentors
  • General Online Fundraising:
  • Online platform selection and assessment
  • Bloomerang CRM ongoing management
  • Optimizing platform effectiveness– reports, pictures, etc.
  • ICF special online fundraising campaigns – matching opportunities, etc.
  • Issuance of Global Giving, PayPal, and email/letter acknowledgements/receipts
  • Annual 5K:
  • Design 5K to feature Corporate philanthropy
  • 5K site selection, permits, insurance, timing, parking, restrooms, security, shelter
  • Prepare and maintain online 5K registration site
  • Invitations to Ambassadors, dignitaries to 5K
  • Race shirt design, cost, management
  • Afterparty: music, food, children’s activities
  • Grant writing (inhouse as well as with outside consultant if necessary)
  • Identification of potential foundations or DAFs and Rotary club grants
  • Writing template cover letters and grant proposals, and mailing
  • Follow-up phone calls, teleconferences, outcome reporting, etc.
  • Monthly Giving Program: maintain and expand
  • Speaking Opportunities:
  • Board members speaking engagements
  • Executive Director and staff speaking engagements
  • Special outside speakers and advocates for Iraqi children
  • Relationships with major individual donors:
  • Regular communications and meetings
  • Special appreciation: lunch, framed picture, etc.
  • CFC – ensure ICF qualifies (e.g. audit) and makes application
  • Participate in CFC events and activities
  • Special Events (Eid, dinner/gala, silent auction, etc.)
  • End of Year fundraising campaign including Giving Tuesday
  • Direct Mail projects where needed
  • General Fundraising Responsibilities:
  • Fundraising brochure development and updates
  • PowerPoints
  • Coordinating with individual and volunteer fundraising efforts (marathons, Facebook fundraisers, etc.)

 

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT

  • Development and assessment of new project proposals from Iraq partners
  • Prepare project agreements between ICF and Iraqi NGO partners
  • Review of project reports
  • Relationship maintenance with Iraqi NGO partners
  • Capacity Assessment and vetting of potential new partners
  • Initiate periodic oversight visits to Iraq
  • Plan and organize ICF Board trips to Iraq
  • Engage US partner, The Children’s Village, in Iraq projects
  • As appropriate, collaborate with other US NGOs on Iraq projects

 

COMMUNICATIONS

  • ICF Website: Posting articles, maintain donation links, update Board members, etc.
  • Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, postings and response to postings
  • E-Newsletter: Write E-Newsletter every month to 6 weeks, expand E-News list
  • Video and film projects
  • Annual Report on ICF achievements
  • Op-eds, Articles for newspapers, etc. – Draft and place
  • Develop and send Super Stakeholders reports to major donors (quarterly)
  • Work with social media influencers to expand ICF outreach for Iraqi children

 

GOVERNANCE AND COMPLIANCE

  • Regularly update ICF activities on Charity Navigator and GuideStar to maintain highest possible rating for transparency and achievements
  • Scheduling and preparing documents for Board meetings; draft and circulate minutes
  • Periodic review/update of bylaws, conflict of interest policy, other governing documents
  • Annual ICF corporate reports to State of Delaware
  • Communications with Board and Advisory Board of activities of ICF
  • Support identification and vetting of possible Board members and Advisors
  • Vet and oversee volunteers for selected projects
  • OFAC compliance
  • File annual State registration in VA; explore multistate registration opportunities
  • Maintain relationship with lawyer for legal questions on fundraising, etc.

 

FINANCIAL

  • Maintain QuickBooks financial records of donations and expenses
  • Maintain relationship with bank
  • Work with accountants in preparation and filing of annual 990 federal income tax return
  • Work with auditor to complete annual ICF audit
  • Pay all ICF bills and ensure employees and/or contractors are paid
  • Do wires of grant payments to NGO partners in Iraq

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $66,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Work Location: Remote
