Chatham University welcomes applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Finance & Accounting. Chatham currently offers a BA and minor in accounting. The department seeks to develop a BA and minor in finance in the future. This nine-month, tenure-track, position is slated to begin in August 2024.

Position Summary:
The successful candidate for this position will teach courses that deliver core finance and accounting content, contribute to curriculum development related to finance and accounting, work with faculty from other areas of the university to explore collaborations and applications of finance and accounting, and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
In addition, the faculty member in this position will maintain professional practice activities and/or research related to finance and accounting and contribute service to the University and profession. This faculty member will be expected to develop relationships with industry partners to provide experiential learning opportunities for Chatham students. Renewal and promotion follow Chatham standards for tenure track faculty.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Teach 18 credits per academic year in courses such as Principles of Finance, Corporate Governance, Sustainable Investing, Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Auditing.
- Participate in curriculum development related to finance and accounting.
- Serve as an academic advisor to students.
- Engage in professional and/or scholarly endeavors related to finance and accounting.
- Engage in service to the University, to the discipline, and to the broader community.
- Develop relationships with industry partners to provide experiential learning opportunities for Chatham students.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD or other doctoral degree in a relevant field including, but not limited to, finance, accounting, or management. ABD candidates with anticipated Ph.D./D.B.A. completion by August 2024 will be considered.
- Ability to teach courses in finance and accounting.
- Practical experience with finance and accounting outside of academia.
- Ability to teach course modules addressing practical finance and accounting tools.
- Commitment to contributing to an inclusive and equitable campus community.
- Commitment to teaching sustainable finance and accounting principles and methods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with faculty, staff and students with diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives.
- Experience teaching finance and accounting tools and subjects, preferably in a higher-education institution.
- Potential for collaborative interdisciplinary work using finance and accounting to solve problems in a range of fields.
