Postdoctoral Associate, Wetland Hydrology, Biogeochemistry, and Ecology
Job Description
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Civil and Environmental Engineering, to integrate hydrologic, biogeochemical, and ecological aspects of wetland studies. Projects in both coastal and freshwater marshes focus on the effects of vegetation and groundwater flow in biogeochemical transport and transformation. Will be based at MIT and work in collaboration with biologists at both the the Plum Island Long Term Ecological Research site and the Harvard Forest, both in Massachusetts. At Plum Island, the team will develop inverse methods to characterize reactive transport processes in coastal marsh sediments, including electromagnetic resistive tomography. At the Harvard Forest, novel techniques to characterize methane fluxes will be developed.
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in environmental science or related field; skillset in hydrology, biogeochemistry, ecology, mathematical modeling, field measurements, and technical writing; ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and on a multidisciplinary research team; and strong qualitative and computational skills and an interest in collecting field data. PREFERRED: knowledge of electromagnetic resistive tomography and methane dynamics in the environment. Job #23625
Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, and list of three references to this application portal. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
