For Kids Only Afterschool (FKO) is a non-profit, EEC licensed out-of-school time provider that serves over 1,500 children each year at 12 program sites in the communities of Chelsea, Everett, Peabody, Revere and Winthrop. FKO’s mission is to guide school-aged children to learn, love and grow together with their communities – encouraging youth to leave their own mark on the world through individual journeys of peace and kindness.
FKO’s year-round programs offer learning experiences during the out-of-school time (OST) hours that boost the academic, social, emotional and physical development of the growing school-age child. Our trained and certified educators offer support and guidance that children need to feel safe and happy, while our enriching programs offer a structured and engaging curriculum with the flexibility youth crave to explore their favorite activities and discover new passions.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
FKO is looking for a Director of Quality and Workforce Developmentto organize, catalyze and support the youth-serving community for the purpose of increasing equity, access and innovation by building and sustaining a high-quality workforce.
The position will hold the general responsibilities of planning, designing and executing the organization’s program quality system, inclusive of OST curriculum and activities, professional development and training, and assessment and evaluation. We are seeking a collaborative and facilitative leader who is driven by a system- and community-building mind-set, has the ability to see the big picture, and be innovative and thoughtful in their approach. Our ideal candidate has a passion for improving the lives of children through inspirational support of the adults who work with them.
Duties of the Director of Quality and Workforce Development include, but are not limited to:
Curriculum and Program Quality
· Provide leadership in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of OST curriculum across 12 FKO program sites;
· Review and offer feedback to program leaders on semester-based curriculum plans;
· Promote summer learning by ensuring summer curriculum plans are designed to promote literacy, math and SEL skill development; overseeing recruitment and hiring efforts of certified teachers and content-based specialists; and ensuring planned experiential learning events and special events are an extension of curriculum plans; and
· Oversee curriculum-related projects and family/school/community events.
Workforce Development
· Coordinate the organization’s professional development programs available to 200+ OST educators working across FKO program sites, including:
o Assess professional development needs of staff organization-wide;
o Coordinate and facilitate, as needed, monthly Communities of Practice (recruit and contract with facilitators, manage COP scheduling and content, etc.);
o Develop and manage OST educator orientation and training program (regularly scheduled in-person and virtual trainings) by facilitating trainings and/or recruiting trainers from the OST community; and
o Plan and implement organization-wide conferences (assess needs and interests of staff, recruit presenters from within OST Community, manage content strands to ensure a variety of workshops, and oversee operations of conference days);
o Supervise educator coaches and other workforce development consultants; and
o Evaluate and refine organization’s training programs based upon staff feedback; and
· Oversee special initiatives for workforce development, such coordinating with the Director of Operations on FKO’s Building the Abilities and Skillsets of OST Educators (BASE) apprenticeship initiative.
Assessment and Evaluation
· Manage organization-wide data collection efforts, building systems for implementation, analysis and application of program and student data;
· Analyze data and prepare reports that guide program leaders to develop ongoing program improvement plans;
· Provide training, coaching and guidance for program directors to understand evaluation tools and implementation systems; and
· Facilitates data learning sessions with staff to use data to inform decision-making at all levels of the organization.
General
· Coordinate with the organization’s development team to meet grant-funded deliverables (i.e. 21stCCLC grant, ASOST grant) as they relate to workforce development, curriculum, and assessment and evaluation;
· Serve as a thought-leader and system-builder on the organization’s executive team;
· Write and develop articles, blog/stories, and social media posts for FKO’s internal and external communications outlets (website, social media, staff bi-weekly newsletter), etc.
· Innovate and build-out existing work staying current with local and national trends in the OST field; and
· Perform all other duties assigned by the Executive Director.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified candidates will possess a mission focused, team-oriented attitude; possess the desire to work alongside colleagues and FKO administration; and be reliable and accountable for his/her work.
Minimum requirements for the position include:
· Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Master’s Degree preferred) and minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a leadership role within the OST or related field;
· Proven ability to be proactive with excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills;
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
· Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Word); and
· Ability to travel on a regular basis to FKO program sites across five communities in Greater Boston area and to local/state/national meetings and conferences when necessary.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
