PT Instructor - Health Sciences (Nursing Science/Clinical Practice - Lab)

Job Duties
The instructor may be assigned to teach laboratory and clinical sections in medical-surgical nursing courses in a manner consistent with the department's standards and policies, conceptual framework, approved course outlines, and plan of instruction. The instructor is responsible for using e-mail on a weekly basis to check for departmental information, participating in at least one departmental meeting a semester, completing flex hours in proportion to number of units assigned and submitting required forms/rosters in a timely fashion and meet the Health and Safety requirements of the assigned clinical facilities. The schedule is assigned by the Associate Dean, Health Services/Director of Nursing Program and may include day, evening, weekend and/or short-term classes. The instructor will incorporate innovative teaching strategies in teaching laboratory and clinical experiences; coordinate student learning experiences; demonstrate commitment to excellence in nursing education by continual professional development and adherence to California Board of Registered Nursing regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing AND Two (2) years of professional service
OR
the minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher.Preferred Qualifications
- An active registered nurse license issued by California BRN and a Master's Degree or higher in Nursing
- Completion of a course in teaching techniques/methods offered at an accredited institution
- Experience as a registered nurse within the last five years, with at least two years providing direct patient care in a medical-surgical setting
- Teaching experience in nursing education
- Knowledge of curriculum development
