Director of Financial Aid
Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Financial Aid to join our team in the education sector, located in Sioux City, Iowa. The role involves ensuring the effective administration of financial aid, providing guidance to students, maintaining compliance with regulations, and fostering cross-departmental collaboration within a university setting.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the administration of federal and state aid programs, ensuring adherence to guidelines established by the Department of Education.
- Develop and implement a customer service model that enhances the delivery of financial aid services to prospective and current students, as well as parents.
- Provide advice to students on financial aid eligibility, application procedures, and deadlines for various aid programs.
- Collect and analyze student financial data to determine aid eligibility and allocate awards in accordance with relevant policies.
- Organize and conduct financial aid workshops, campus visit events, and presentations to provide clear information about financial aid opportunities.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between the Financial Aid department and other University departments to ensure a seamless educational experience.
- Conduct research and prepare reports for strategic planning in Enrollment Management.
- Develop and enforce financial aid policies, particularly in relation to annual, restricted, and endowed scholarships.
- Review and interpret policy changes from the Department of Education and implement appropriate updates to internal procedures.
- Manage processes related to Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4), ensuring compliance with federal guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Business Office to ensure accurate and timely data exchange between financial systems.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial aid regulations and best practices through professional development and networking.
- Administer key federal programs such as the Pell Grant, Stafford/SLS/PLUS Loans, and campus-based programs like Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) and College Work-Study (CWS).
- Stay current with changing regulations and ensure full compliance with all relevant laws and guidelines affecting financial aid.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree required
- Possess a minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in a similar role within the education sector, preferably in a university setting
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Accounting Software Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
- Have an understanding of Balance Sheet Account and Budget Processes in the context of educational institutions
- Experience in Student Financial Aid management, particularly in a university setting
- Knowledge of Educational Tuition Assistance Plan administration
- Familiarity with Regulatory Filings, Regulatory Reporting, and University Policies
- Strong knowledge of Compliance and Audit Compliance within the education sector.
