Job Summary and Qualifications
The Director of Admissions provides leadership and direction for the Research College of Nursing (RCoN) admissions function, including management of the admissions process, development and management of event programming, and management of the Student Ambassadors program. The Director of Admissions will analyze and manage complex data in order to enhance recruitment efforts.
Admissions/Application Processes
- Evaluate, execute and communicate admissions decisions of a routine nature on applicant files.
- Compile and present to the Provost relevant applicant information for admission decisions that fall outside typical parameters, for the Provost’s review and decision-making, communicating those admission decisions once they have been made by the Provost.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with, and serve as RCoN’s primary liaison to, a portfolio of community college and four-year college counselors in Kansas City and targeted regions in Kansas and Missouri.
- Guide students through the admissions process from the point of application for admission to the first day of class, including communication regarding requirements, financial assistance, and other admissions-related details.
- Communicate with and present information about RCoN programs to prospective students and their families.
Events
- Use best practices to develop, plan, execute, and evaluate top-quality, best-in-class event programming to connect with, engage, and inform future students.
- Develop prospective student visitor and event attendance targets and goals for each activity/event, and prepare comprehensive statistical reports related to these events.
Student Ambassadors
- Lead the selection process and ongoing training, management and coaching of RCoN Student Ambassadors, coordinating their efforts and relaying information, including expectations and available Ambassador volunteer opportunities, that serve RCoN/the community.
- Implement, and assess a comprehensive training program for Student Ambassadors and Student Workers that focuses on them delivering a student-centered experience.
Marketing
- In collaboration with the Director of Admissions Marketing and Communications, use analytics to measure the success of marketing and communication efforts and make data-driven decisions that lead to the generation of new student leads.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director of Enrollment Management and the Director of Admissions Marketing and Communications, collaborate in the development of fresh, bold, and purposeful recruitment materials.
Planning
- Participate in strategic enrollment planning activities, with a focus on the formulation of admissions goals, as part of the RCoN strategic plan.
- Identify, develop, execute and evaluate recruitment and yield strategies to achieve approved admissions goals.
- Implement and assess a comprehensive training program for RCoN faculty and staff that focuses on them delivering a student-centered experience.
New Student Orientation/Transition
- Collaborate with Provost, Registrar, and BSN Track Coordinators to ensure a seamless transition for new students to advising and registration services.
General Administrative
- Use appropriate software platforms to generate and present recruitment and admission reports for RCoN leadership, regularly and on an ad hoc basis.
- In conjunction with appropriate RCoN staff, coordinate systems integration efforts between WebAdMIT, Liaison EMP, and SONIS in order to maximize recruitment efforts.
- Carry out ongoing administrative functions that keep admissions-related software platforms updated for RCoN staff and applicant use.
Professional Development
- Regularly participate in professional development activities to remain well-informed of current trends and best practices.
- Represent RCoN at relevant professional meetings and conferences.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within admissions or a related department in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of admissions processes and procedures
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
- Proficiency in using student information systems and CRM software
- Demonstrated success is meeting enrollment targets and implementing innovative recruitment strategies
- Experience working with diverse student populations and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable admissions process
Research College of Nursing (RCoN) is a private, non-sectarian, fully accredited institution of higher learning, focused solely on educating tomorrow’s nurses, offering the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
