Position: Human Resources Manager
Classification: Full Time/Exempt
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Salary: $90,000 - $105,000
The David Lynch Foundation (DLF) has a unique opportunity to work with our mission-driven organization as an HR Manager. Human Resources at DLF allows you to provide support in diverse areas such as payroll, recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, benefits and HRIS administration, and employee relations.

The David Lynch Foundation (DLF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 2005 that addresses the epidemic of trauma and toxic stress among underserved populations through the implementation of the evidence based Transcendental Meditation technique.
What you will be responsible for:
- Data entry and maintenance of employee records in Namely and hardcopies as needed.
- Process Payroll
- Respond to external and internal queries accordingly.
- Employment Verifications
- Reference Checks
- Employee requests in person or by phone
- Review monthly billings from insurance providers for accuracy. Resolve discrepancies with carriers.
- Assist the Executive Team with HR projects as needed.
- Serve as an advocate for DLF’s employees.
- Provide information about Human Resources
- Assists in full recruitment which includes role clarity, placing ads on internal/external job boards, arranging interviews, making job offers and orchestrating a seamless onboarding process.
- Maintains Namely HR system by maintaining headcount reports, updating changes, and tracking employee information.
- Researches and recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve the efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
- Performs benefits administration working with benefits providers, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to all employees.
- Organizes training schedules for new and existing staff and keeps training records up to date.
- Handles employee relations counseling and exit interviewing.
- Processes leave of absence requests, promotions, internal transfers, terminations, contractors and new hires.
- Maintains company organization charts.
- Sets up the Human Resources portion of the All-Hands Staff Meeting
Who you are:
- You are a solid Human Resources Generalist
- You understand confidentiality and protect employee/company information.
- You maintain curiosity and demonstrate the ability to find ways to improve how they work.
- You have excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- You are dependable, and you have strong follow through.
- You have excellent experience with HR software, like HRIS or HRMS, and payroll.
Experience and Education:
- Formal education and training in Human Resources (bachelor’s degree in human resources is a plus)
- PHR Certification is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in Human Resources
- Working knowledge of all applicable Labor and Employment Laws
- Experience handling the employee relations demands of a hybrid workforce
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including competency in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) as well as the ability to learn new programs and skills as needed.
